6.2 The fees associated with editing services are typically paid for through externally funded research projects. However, to promote and encourage submissions to high-impact journals, KFUPM offers the following privileges to its research community:
KFUPM will cover the editing fees of one (1) journal article per calendar year, for each faculty, researcher, and postdoctoral fellow.
If the article that had undergone editing (by one of the indicated service providers) is accepted for publication in a Q1 or Q2 journal (per Clarivate’s quartile rankings), KFUPM will cover the editing fees of one additional journal article for the author (who submitted the original article) within one year of acceptance for publication. This process will continue as long as the edited article is accepted for publication in a Q1 or Q2 journal.
Faculty members, researchers, or postdoctoral fellows who have already availed themselves of the annual free-article opportunity and who do not have externally funded research projects that can be charged for the editing fees can self-pay at the special KFUPM rates. When an article is accepted for publication in a Q1 or Q2 journal, the author can request reimbursement of its editing fees by submitting the Reimbursement Form (Appendix B) to DR at editingservices@kfupm.edu.sa.
There is no limit on the number of Q1 or Q2 journal articles for which editing fees will be reimbursed.
6.3 The rank of the journal will be considered at the time of manuscript acceptance.
