1. PURPOSE
The purpose of these guidelines is to support the administration of the High Impact Paper Award (the award).

- These guidelines apply to the High Impact Paper based on the impact of papers published in a Nature-index journal or the top 2% of journals published by Clarivate.
- These guidelines apply to all KFUPM faculty and researchers.
3. DEFINITIONS AND ACRONYMS

4. OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the award are to:
- recognize KFUPM faculty members and researchers who have generated a high-impact paper published in a top-quality journal;
- encourage KFUPM faculty members and researchers to target their papers for publication in top-quality journals in their respective fields.
5. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
All KFUPM faculty members and researchers are eligible for the award where:
- their paper was published while the applicant was affiliated with KFUPM, and the affiliation appears on the publication;
- their paper has at least 50% authors from KFUPM;
- the first author or corresponding author is from KFUPM;
- their paper was published in a Nature-index journal (https://www.natureindex.com) or in the top 2% of journals (JIF Percentile is above 98%) published by Clarivate (https://mjl.clarivate.com/).
- their paper has major contribution to UN SDG (https://blog.scopus.com/posts/sustainable-development-goals-sdgs-on-scopus).
- their paper has in international co-author;
6. APPLICATIONS

Jump to Top7. SELECTION OF RECIPIENTS
- Awards will be made based on the impact of papers published in a Nature-index journal or the top 2% of journals published by Clarivate.
- DR will monitor publication impact, determine award recipients and make awards throughout the academic year.
- DR will inform award recipients.
8. AWARD BENEFITS
- The recipient will receive a certificate.
- The principal author for nature index journal will receive a certificate and gift, while other KFUPM authors will receive only a certificate.
9. IMPLEMENTATION, COMPLIANCE, AND REPORTING
- DR is responsible for monitoring the implementation of these guidelines using the following performance indicators:
- the number of awards allocated, annually;
- the number of issues reported in relation to the awards scheme.
- Dean of Research is responsible for ensuring compliance with these guidelines.
- Non-compliance with these guidelines shall be immediately reported to VPRI.
