1. PURPOSE
The purpose of these guidelines is to support the administration of the President Award for Highly Cited Researcher
2. SCOPE
- These guidelines apply to the President Award for Highly Cited Researcher.
- These guidelines apply to all KFUPM professorial rank faculty members and researchers.
3. ACRONYMS
1. Definitions | |

Project | A product of an approved research proposal that is scientifically reviewed by a competent body and has an allocated fund administered by KFUPM. It generally seeks to systematically investigate a problem through scientific methodologies conforming to academic best practices to achieve the defined research objectives. |

4. OBJECTIVES
- President award for Highly Cited Researcher is bestowed to KFUPM Full-time faculty who have demonstrated significant and broad influence reflected in their publication of multiple highly cited papers over their service at University.
- The objective of this award is to recognise extraordinary, and internationally-highly Cited scholars by peers in their field.
5. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
All full-time faculty members or researchers whose name appear in the Highly Cited Researchers list published by https://clarivate.com/highly-cited-researchers/ are eligible for the award.
6. SELECTION CRITERIA FOR AWARD
- The awards will be based on the list published by Clarivate.
- DoR will monitor Clarivate, determine award recipients and make awards in the beginning of every academic year.
- Duration of the award is conditional for duration in HCR list
- There is no slot limit for the award
- DoR will inform the award recipients
7. APPLICATIONS
Applications are not required as it is an auto-recognition based on the list published by Clarivate
8. SELECTION AND RECOGNITION
- KFUPM Faculty members whose name feature in the list published by Clarivate will be screened to make sure that the recipient is a full-time faculty member and do not carry any dual affiliation.
- Names of the winners are forwarded to the VPRI to seek approval for the monetary awards and research funds.
- Selected recipients are recognized and honoured by the President in the annual award ceremony.
- The Deanship of Research communicates with the concern offices to process the monetary award money to the winner.
- DR initiates the project and communicate to the winner.

10. IMPLEMENTATION, COMPLIANCE, AND REPORTING
- DoR is responsible for monitoring the implementation of these guidelines using the following performance indicators:
- the number of Awards allocated, annually;
- the number of issues reported in relation to the Awards scheme.
- Deans and Chairs are responsible for ensuring compliance with these guidelines
- Non-compliance with these guidelines shall be immediately reported to DoR.
