The Center of Hydrogen Technology and Carbon Management (IRC-HTCM) at King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher position to join a research project focused on advancing MEMS/NEMS-based gas and pressure sensing technologies for hydrogen safety and monitoring, as well as innovative sensor platforms for efficient carbon-capture processes. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Mahmoud Khater and contribute to the development of sensor-interface electronics, embedded systems, and advanced sensing technologies for sustainable energy applications.
About the Lab / Project
Our lab is dedicated to advancing MEMS/NEMS gas and pressure sensing technologies for hydrogen safety and monitoring, alongside innovative sensor platforms that enable efficient carbon‑capture processes.
We are currently seeking talented, highly motivated postdoctoral researchers to join our multidisciplinary team and contribute to our state-of-the-art research initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, simulate, implement, and test MEMS/NEMS interface electronics.
- Develop PCBs, embedded readout systems, and signal-processing solutions.
- Characterize and validate complete sensor–electronics platforms.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary researchers and publish in high-impact journals.
Qualifications
- Education: Ph.D. in [Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Microsystems Engineering], or a closely related field.
- Specialization: Hands-on experience or expertise in [Strong experience in analog/mixed-signal circuits, PCB design, sensor interfaces, and data acquisition, microcontrollers, embedded systems, or FPGA platforms, Familiarity with circuit-design software and electronic laboratory instrumentation. Experience with resonant MEMS, SPICE, DSP, wireless systems, COMSOL/ANSYS, or MEMS fabrication is advantageous].
- Analytical Skills: Strong proficiency in [experimental design / data analysis / modeling / simulation tools].
- Soft Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to work productively in a team environment.
Minimum KFUPM Institutional Requirements
In addition to the specific lab qualifications, candidates must strictly meet the following university-wide criteria to be considered:
• Recency of Degree: Ph.D. awarded within the last 5 years (Year 2021 or later).
• Academic Record: No grades of D or F (or equivalent) at any point throughout their higher education academic career.
• Research Productivity: An average of 5 publications per year in Q1/Q2 indexed journals.
• Institutional Ranking: The Ph.D.-granting university must be globally recognized, preferably ranked in the Top 200 by QS University Rankings (either overall or by subject).How to Apply
