Hydrogen Production for Power Generation: Advancing from Concept to Commercial Reality
We are pleased to invite you to an upcoming scientific seminar presented by Dr. Shakeel Ahmed, Research Scientist at IRC–Refining & Advanced Chemicals, KFUPM. Dr. Shakeel is a distinguished scientist with extensive expertise in industrial catalysis, inorganic synthesis, and advanced analytical techniques. He has led numerous funded projects in petroleum refining and petrochemical catalysis, published over 200 research papers, and is a co-inventor on 78 patents. His contributions have earned major national and international recognition, including global acclaim for pioneering on-board hydrogen production technologies.
In this seminar, Dr. Shakeel Ahmed will present on:
Seminar Title: Hydrogen Production for Power Generation: Advancing from Concept to Commercial Reality
The talk will highlight the development of a thermoneutral reforming (TNR) catalyst for liquid-fuel hydrogen processors and its integration into a compact on-board Auxiliary Power Unit (APU). The presentation will cover the complete development pathway—from early laboratory research (TRL 1–3), to pilot-scale demonstrations (TRL 4–6), and advanced commercial TRLs (7–9)—supported by strong IP protection with more than 30 granted patents.
Date: Wednesday, December 17, 2025
Time: 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Location: Building 15, Room 4001
We encourage all members to attend and benefit from this seminar, which will provide valuable insights into hydrogen production pathways and their role in reliable, scalable, and efficient power-generation systems.
