Graduate Student Research Grant By Renewable Energy Technical Incubator (RETI)

Mission

The Renewable Energy Technical Incubator (RETI) at KFUPM facilitates research, development, and innovation (RDI) projects in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and industry 4.0 (IR 4.0) applications in the energy sector.

Objectives

The objectives of the grant are to:

  • Building human capital in the field of renewable energy and relevant sectors
  • Enriching the grantees' skills to prepare them as per the need of the Kingdom

 

Eligibility Criteria
  • Any KFUPM Graduate Student (Master and Doctoral) is eligible for the grant. Master students should finish 50 % of course work, and Doctoral students should pass the comprehensive exam.
  • Proposed topic should be related to students' M.Sc. Thesis or Ph.D. Dissertation and renewable energy technologies.

  • Application submission deadline: 16 April 2023 @ 4:00 PM.

 

Duration and venue
  • Duration for M.Sc. and Ph.D. students are 12 and 18 months (max.), respectively.
  • Grant should be with the student's thesis/dissertation advisor.
  • Expected starting time: 1 September 2023.

 

Evaluation Criteria
  • A high-level expert committee formed by the Vice President of Research and Innovation (VPRI) will set the evaluation criteria to filter out the best and most competitive proposals.
  • Winners will be notified via email before the program's inception (1 September 2023).

 

Budget
  • 30,000 SAR for M.Sc. students and 50,000 SAR for Ph.D. students, including a monthly incentive of 1,000 SAR (Detailed information can be found in the proposal template).

 

Deliverables
  • Scientific outcomes: high-impact journal and flagship conference proceedings (compulsory).
  • Patent and prototype for demonstration (highly recommended).
