Lab Chemicals Supply Contract
A centralized contract for the supply of chemicals for teaching and research labs for the next three years (2024 - 2026) has been signed. This contract covers 183,739 lab chemical items available in a catalogue that is accessible to individual users and designated representatives of all research centers and academic departments. All lab chemical purchases at KFUPM will be undertaken through this centralized contract.
1. GENERAL ACCESS FOR INDIVIDUAL USERS
The chemicals catalogue is accessible to all KFUPM lab users (Faculty, Researchers, Lab Technicians, Post doctorates, and Postgraduates) and includes all item details except for the prices.
- You can browse and download chemicals catalogue at
Download Catalogue - Downloaded catalogue constitutes two sheets namely “Chemical list” and “VLOOKUP”
- Search for a chemical by entering the product number, CAS number or a part of the item description in sheet “Chemical List”.
- Once an item is found, copy its number from column B "Product Number", and paste it in the sheet "VLOOKUP" in column B "Product Number". All other information related to the selected item will be populated automatically.
- After adding all the required chemicals in the sheet "VLOOKUP", add prices in column H by contacting the authorized representative of your department or research center. A list of representatives can be found below (Click Here).
- Select all the added items, total prices, copy them, and paste them in the ‘Template file’ .
Download Template - If requested chemical is not found in the catalogue, add its specifications and quantity.
- Add allocated budget for the required chemicals and project number or charge account.
- Obtain approval of the chairman, director or project manager.
- Save the template
- Submit the template to the Core Research Facilities via the following electronic form

2. AUTHORIZED ACCESS FOR DEPARTMENT/CENTER REPRESENTATIVES
- Only limited KFUPM users who represent departments and research centers are registered/allowed to access this link.
- The catalogue contains item details such as: Chemical name, specifications & purity, CAS number, product number and prices.

2.1 Guidelines - How to Request Chemicals (for designated representatives only)
- Activate the link access;
- Enter the URL & click login
- Use your KFUPM credentials
- Register 2FA on mobile
- Install Microsoft Authenticator App from Apple store or Android store.
- Open Microsoft Authenticator App on mobile and click "+" to add a new account.
- Select "Other account"
- Scan the QR code
- Open Microsoft Authenticator App on mobile and click "+" to add a new account.
- After 2FA registration, provide the code via app to login.
- Enter the URL & click login
- Search for a chemical using product number, CAS number, or part of the item description. For example, if you search product number "32221";
- Select item and edit quantity to add item to the selected shopping list. The selection of items should be undertaken one by one:
- Select item
- Click "Edit"
- Click "Add"
- Add quantity
- Check "Qty" checkbox.
- Click "Update" to add the item to the selected list.
- To see all the selected items:
- Clear the "Item Description" field
- Check the "Selected Items" checkbox
- Press "Search" button.
- After completing your selection, download the list by clicking "Download Data" button to excel sheet.
- Add your name, office phone, department /center name, and email.
- Incorporate the project number or charge account into separate columns.
- Obtain approval of the chairman, director or project manager.
- Save the Excel sheet.
- Submit the template to the Core Research Facilities via the following electronic form

3. IMPORTANT NOTES
- We prefer to receive a compiled list of chemicals from each department and center through its designated representative. This ensures efficient management and delivery. However, individual users can still submit their request(s) by following the procedure described above.
- If your requested chemicals are not available in the original list of chemicals submitted by your department or center representative, the delivery period can be a maximum of 90 days (12 weeks).
- If your requested chemical is available in the original list of chemicals submitted by your representative, then the delivery is expected to take 7 working days from the date of the release order.
- The release for chemicals is submitted periodically as per actual requirement of the academic departments & research centers and the delivery is expected to take 7 working days from the date of the release order.
