X-RAY Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS)

X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) is an advanced analytical technique used to investigate the elemental composition and chemical bonding characteristics of material surfaces. The JEOL JPS-9030 operates by irradiating a sample with X-rays and measuring the kinetic energy of emitted photoelectrons to determine their binding energies. This technique provides valuable information about surface elemental composition, oxidation states, chemical environments, and bonding characteristics. XPS typically analyzes the outermost few nanometers of a material, making it particularly suitable for surface-sensitive investigations. It is widely used in materials science, nanotechnology, semiconductor research, corrosion studies, thin-film characterization, and surface treatment evaluation.
