Information Digitalization and Renewable Electricity Generation: Evidence from South Asian countries
Organized by: IRC-FDE
The energy sector is undergoing a transformation due to climate change. Non-renewable fossil fuel consumption contributes to greenhouse gas emissions (Mehmood et al., 2022). This has led global leaders to shift to renewable energy production and consumption. Renewable electricity generation from sources like solar, wind, biomass, and hydropower play a crucial role. Technology operations are essential for renewable energy production, which relies on digital control. Thus, renewable energy production and consumption depend on information digitalization. Information digitalization includes de facto (flow and implementation) and de jure (policy decisions) aspects (Leal and Marques, 2019). This study investigates how globalized information digitalization impacts renewable electricity generation in developing countries, specifically South Asian nations.
