From Closed to Open: Navigating the Path to FAIR and Open Data Practices in the Arab Scientific Community
Organized by: irc-fde
In the rapidly evolving landscape of academic research, open science is emerging as a pivotal force, redefining norms and encouraging a shift towards more transparent, collaborative approaches. This movement holds particular significance for Arab researchers, offering them new avenues to enhance their work's visibility and impact beyond conventional journal publications. At the core of this shift is the adoption of the FAIR principles, aimed at making data more accessible, discoverable, and ultimately, more impactful. Despite these advancements, the Arab world faces unique challenges. Data here often remains underutilized, with issues in usability and citability, even when made open. This session explores what open science truly means for Arab researchers, particularly in the fields of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. It will address how adopting open and FAIR data practices can unlock new potentials in research and innovation.
