Strategic Planning and Assessment Committee (SPAC)

This is a committee formed to develop and monitor the strategic planning process for this center. The members are as follows:

Charges:
·  Preparation of strategic plans for the Center.
·  Gathering of data and other evidence that support the self-assessment findings, including essential performance and benchmarks.
·  Identifying continuously priorities for improvement.
·  Summarizing the Center’s activities during the previous year.
·  Providing appropriate statistics and data and outline planning for the following year.
·  Ensuring proper levels of assessment are being conducted and the results of the evaluation are appropriately utilized.
·  Aggregating and interpreting assessment information and organize an annual report for decision-makers (Director).
·   Preparing a 3-year cycle for the implementation of center strategic plans.


 

Research and Manpower Recruitment Committee (RMRC)

This committee is in charge of attracting applications from 1st class researchers and post-docs. The members are:

Charges:
·  Reviewing and recommending human resources applications received from VPRI.
·  Hiring of consultants under each specific research area.
·  Evaluating the progress reports of the projects under the Center (internal or external).
·  Identifying and directly contacting potential researchers and post-docs
·  Updating the themes and specific research areas.
·  Evaluating the submitted proposals (internal or external).
·  Identifying grant challenges and pioneer research topics in the Center.

 

Events, Collaboration, and IT Committee (ECIC)

This committee is established to create an environment of research collaboration with colleagues both within the university and industry. It has also to ensure that the center’s IT supports the center’s objectives and strategies.

Charges:
·  To encourage members of IRC-CBM to participate in the seminars/workshops/etc.
·  To identify the potential collaborations with other centers and other institutions (Aramco, Schlumberger, etc.)
·  To invite internal and external speakers to participate in the seminars/workshops/etc. with coordination of specific area coordinators.
·  To coordinate events with KiKX in terms of organizing the workshops/etc.
·  To organize a monthly seminar by coordinating with specific area coordinators.
·  To summarize the Center’s events during the prior year.
·  To acquire software to match with the requirements of the Center.
·  To maintain the software purchased through the Center.
·  To study existing and future needs for computing facilities of the Center
·  To submit and prepare PRs for software through the ERP.
·  To improve and update the Center’s website.
·  Developing promotional materials such as brochures and posters.

 

Safety and Equipment Utilization Committee (SEUC)

Charges:
·  To maintain lab facilities and equipment.
·  To recommend new lab equipment based on the needs of the Center by specific area coordinators or based on affiliated member’s needs.
·  To recommend new materials based on the needs of the Center by specific area coordinators or based on the affiliated members’ needs.
·  To submit and prepare PRs for new equipment through the ERP.
·  To study existing and future needs for new equipment and send the reports to the SPAC Committee.
·  To keep inventory of equipment, accessories of the center.
·  To study existing and future needs for lab spaces and send the reports to the SPAC Committee.
·  To conduct inspections twice each semester, Center safety, lab space, utilization, equipment, and send the inspection reports to the SPAC Committee on the attached Safety Inspection form.
·  To eliminate hazards, if any, found in any facility. The SPAC Committee will review the inspection reports and provide its suggestions to improve the situation.

Charges:
·     To encourage IRC-CBM members to submit high-quality multi-disciplinary research proposals in the specific research area.
·     To help Events, Collaboration, and IT Committee (ECIC), suggest internal and external speakers participate in the seminars/workshops/etc.
·     To recommend new lab equipment and lab spaces based on the Center’s needs by specific research area.
·     To recommend new materials based on the Center’s needs by specific research area.
·     To help the Research and Manpower Recruitment Committee (RMRC), suggest human resources be hired to strengthen the research of the specific area.
·     To prepare strategic plans to make the area active and attractive by the internal and external communities. 
·     To update the topics in the specific research area up to date.
·     To campaign attracting external impactful research projects.
·     To encourage IRC-CBM members to bring external projects related to the specific research area.
·     To positively submit a bi-weekly report on the activities of the committee to the center director.
