Description: This project aims to develop the first curated, expert-annotated Saudi dataset for detecting Plus Disease in infants with Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP). Using de-identified retinal fundus images, public datasets, and deep-learning methods, the study will address image-quality challenges, class imbalance, and differences in local imaging practices. The resulting AI model will support automated detection and triage of severe ROP cases, reduce variability among clinicians, and provide a locally validated prototype for future clinical screening. The project will also strengthen Saudi research capacity in pediatric ophthalmic AI while maintaining controlled access to the dataset.
