Applicant: Principal investigator (PI) is KFUPM full time employee (faculty member)
Field: The focus of the proposal must be in “Saudi Arabia Strategic Technological Areas” and according to “KFUPM Scientific Fields”
Intellectual Property: Proposed idea should have filed or issued patent. The IP should be owned by KFUPM (preferably solely owned; in case of joint ownership with another organization, an agreement should be in place defining ownership/exploitation of foreground IP’s)
Budget: A maximum of SAR 200,000 can be requested under this program. Applicants will need to provide budget justification with milestones, deliverables, and deadlines.
Duration: Project milestones should be achievable within 6 months from the start of funding. Committee may approve applications for 12 months duration depending on nature of project.
Others: Additional collaborators may be included as co-investigators. Major research activities must be at KFUPM.
Scope of activities supported by PoC Grant:
Development of technology from TRL 2 to TRL 3 or from TRL3 to TRL 4
Testing/Validating the technical viability
Conducting specific market research
Designing, constructing and evaluating a prototype device
Confirming the functionality and commercial value of the invention
