Dr. Zoheb Nawaz joins the Center as a Post Doctoral Fellow
The IRC-Construction and Building Materials at KFUPM is pleased to welcome Dr. Mohammed Zoheb Nawaz Sheik as a Post-Doctoral Fellow. He received his Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus, India, in 2025. Prior to joining KFUPM, he served as an Assistant Professor at Vasavi College of Engineering, Hyderabad, from July 2025 to March 2026.
Dr. Sheik’s research expertise includes structural dynamics, base isolation systems, masonry structures, and nonlinear structural testing, including shake table and quasi-static testing. His work focuses on developing cost-effective vibration control systems for masonry structures, particularly suited for seismic regions and developing environments. He has specialized expertise in Unreinforced Elastomeric Isolators (UEIs), covering their design, modeling, and optimization, supported by both numerical simulations and experimental validation.
Dr. Sheik also brings industry and teaching experience, having worked as a structural engineer and served in academic roles. His future research will explore additive manufacturing (3D printing) for innovative masonry systems, the use of plastic waste in construction, and the development of lightweight, seismic-resistant structures.
We warmly welcome Dr. Mohammed Zoheb Nawaz Sheik and look forward to his valuable contributions to structural and earthquake engineering research at IRC-Construction and Building Materials, KFUPM.
