Dr. Karnan Manickavasakam joins IRC-CBM as a Post Doctoral Fellow
The IRC-CBM research center at KFUPM is pleased to welcome Dr. Karnan Manickavasakam as a Post-Doctoral Fellow. Dr. Manickavasakam is a researcher in chemical sciences, holding a Ph.D. from the CSIR-Central Electrochemical Research Institute, India. His expertise lies in advanced supercapacitor devices, with a strong emphasis on sustainable energy solutions. During his Ph.D., Dr. Manickavasakam contributed to cutting-edge advancements in supercapacitor technology, particularly in the development of bio-waste-derived activated carbon electrodes for high-performance energy storage devices. His lab-scale non-aqueous supercapacitor prototypes have demonstrated significant potential for consumer electronics, achieving remarkable specifications of 18 F @ 2.5 V and 125 F @ 3 V.
At IRC-CBM, KFUPM, his research will focus on conductive concrete-based electrodes and advanced electrolytes for structural supercapacitors, further driving progress at the intersection of materials science and sustainable energy technology.
