AI-Based PV Pnels Inspection using Drones
Dates: 2023
Principal Investigator: Dr. Mohammed Mohandes
Description: The data samples from SAKAKA PV Plant are in two categories: 18 thermal images and the same in RGB images. The two set of images are not at the same scale. The thermal images show 6 rows of modules, while the RGB images show three rows. In some pictures, the RGB images cover part of two blocks while the corresponding thermal images covers one block and the reverse. All images are from Block 1-6. The coordinates are (1,1), (1,2), (1,3), (1,4), (1,5), (1,6), (1,7), however, it is not clear what these coordinates refer to or where is the origin. The 18 sets of RGB and Thermal images are numbered from 273 until 290. Sets 273, 275, 277, 280, 281, 282, 283, 284, 288, 289, 290 are entitled “Bypass diode activated module”. Sets 274, 276, 278, 279, 285, 286, are entitled “Single hotspot affected modules”. The set 287 is the only one entitled “Junction box highlighted modules”. The sets are categorized with 7 minor severity, and 11 moderate severity. The defect on thermal images are enclosed on a green box, while no indication of the defects on RGB images, and no correspondence between the two images in the same set, as shown in Fig.1. It seems that the two images are taken from different drone flights with different attitudes, or probably the cameras are of different zooms.
