Camel Detection and Driver Alert System: Enhancing Road Safety in KSA's Desert Regions
PI: Dr. Mahmoud Masoud
CoI: Dr. Alaa Khamis, Eng. Karim Sattar

In Saudi Arabia, camels often crash into vehicles causing significant damage and increasing the risk of fatalities or major injuries. According to studies, CVCs may cause up to 25% of fatalities and account for a significant portion of spinal cord injuries in certain areas. This emphasizes how urgently a camel detection and driver alarm system is needed. CVCs might be avoided by using cutting-edge technology to detect camels close to roadways and alert cars, thereby saving lives.

In this research, a camel detection and driver alert system (CDDAS) in Figure 1 will be developed to identify camels near roads at black spots and send a notification to the driver. CDDAS will camels' using the sate of the art technology including AI, thermal imaging and real time monitoring.
