Seminar: Anti-scaling Electro-Active Reverse Osmosis Membranes

Presenter: Dr. Arian Edalat, CEO, Active Membranes Inc. USA

Organized by: Interdisciplinary Research Center for Membrane and Water Security
13 Dec 2023 @ 03:00 PM
Location: Bldg. 15/4th Floor Auditorium Room

Abstract:

This presentation delves into the innovative realm of Anti-scaling Electro-Active Reverse Osmosis (EARO) Membranes. Scaling, a common issue in RO systems, leads to efficiency loss and increased operational costs. Dr. Arian's presentation introduces a groundbreaking solution: EARO Membranes, designed to actively combat scaling through their electro-active properties. These membranes employ a controlled electric field to prevent the accumulation of scaling agents such as calcium carbonate and silica, significantly reducing the frequency of membrane cleaning and the reliance on chemical anti-scalants. The presentation will cover Arian's comprehensive approach to developing these membranes, from concept to commercialization. He will discuss the operational mechanism of these innovative membranes, and their performance efficiency compared to traditional RO systems, substantiated by extensive testing and data analysis.
