The Interdisciplinary Research Center for Aviation & Space Exploration (IRC-ASE) has been established at King Fahd University (KFUPM) with the aim of advancing space-based research through the development of innovative technologies and approaches. As one of the leading university laboratories in the Kingdom, IRC-ASE is dedicated to creating a scientific and technical environment that fosters innovation and supports the growth of the aviation and space sectors. By promoting the localization of aviation and space-related activities, developing Saudi human capital in space, enhancing national resilience, and promoting national identity, IRC-ASE is aligned with the strategic goals of Kingdom's Vision 2030.
Astrodynamics/Orbital mechanics research focuses on understanding and predicting the motion of objects in space, particularly satellites and spacecraft. This research involves mathematical models and computer simulations, and has applications in fields such as satellite communication and space exploration. Advances in this field have led to the development of more efficient satellite systems and exploration of the outer solar system.
