The president of King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM) has announced the appointment of Prof. Daniel Benevides da Costa as Acting Director for the Interdisciplinary Research Center for Communication Systems and Sensing (IRC-CSS).

The center focuses on advancing technologies in wireless and optical communications, signal processing, antennas, electromagnetics, semiconductors, and sensing systems, with an emphasis on developing smart and adaptive communication solutions.

Prof. Daniel Benevides da Costa expressed gratitude to KFUPM leadership, including President Dr. Muhammad Al-Saggaf and Vice President of Research and Innovation Dr. Ali Al-Shaikhi, for their trust and support. Special thanks were also extended to former director Prof. Ali Muqaibel for his role in establishing and building the center.

Looking ahead, Prof. da Costa outlined a vision to strengthen IRC-CSS’s global presence, build new partnerships with industry and academia, and showcase the innovative research carried out at the center.
