Ensuring that the mobile base stations are radiating within the safe limits
Organized by: IRC for Communication Systems and Sensing
The safety evaluation of radio frequency (RF) radiation is the key concern of regulatory authorities locally by the Communications, Space, and Technology Commission (CST), and globally by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). The compliance standards are set by ICNIRP. In this practical session, the possible sources of RF radiation and their acceptable levels as per standards will be described. Live measurement of total RF radiation observed from various possible sources at the location in context will be demonstrated using SRM-3006 of Narda Security Solutions. In addition, the main features, functions, and capabilities of the SRM will be presented. A frequency-selective approach for broadcasting and cellular networks of 2G, 3G, and 4G technologies will be demonstrated. The extension to 5G will also be resented.
