Revolutionizing Energy Efficiency with Flexibility

A collaborative research initiative between DEMA Energy and King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals

 

Energy system operators traditionally maintain flexibility through generation-side solutions. The transition to renewable energy systems creates the necessity for additional flexibility, for which conventional methods are deemed costly and less effective.

DEMA Energy is an energy-tech company committed to optimizing efficiency of energy systems with flexible electrical loads. They aim to deliver scalable and location-agnostic flexibility, allowing energy system operators to outsource their flexibility needs to DEMA Energy.

In Saudi Arabia, the flexibility market is estimated at 2.7 billion SAR on an annual basis. DEMA 

 

 

Energy provides the flexibility via (1) the strategic deployment of DEMA Box™ and DEMA Flexible Compute™ to generate a new flexible demand in the energy system, and (2) converting existing loads, including residential, commercial, and industrial, to sources of flexibility via the deployment of DEMA VPP™.

This collaboration will appraise and advance DEMA technologies, including developing novel approaches to manage flexibility in energy systems with high renewable penetration. DEMA Energy and KFUPM aim to launch these solutions in the Saudi market in early 2025
