Pioneering the Future of Heart Health: An AI-based Platform for Preventive Care

Interdisciplinary Research Center for Finance and Digital Economy,
September 2024

KFUPM is developing a novel approach to address cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), a public health issue that contributes to nearly 31% of all deaths worldwide, using cutting-edge technologies and human-centered design principles to create an integrated heart health management system, CardioVision.

The “CardioVision” platform is an innovative web-based AI-assisted system, specifically designed for the analysis of Coronary Computed Tomography Angiography (CCTA) scans. This system will be using pre-trained ML models to automatically segment coronary arteries and then identify any plaque buildup.

This platform is a new, self-contained product within

the broader landscape of medical imaging and diagnostic systems. It is also a transformative addition that enhances the capabilities of healthcare professionals in diagnosing coronary artery diseases.

The platform streamlines cardiovascular health management, with the tailored interfaces within the system ensuring that medical professionals experience a user-friendly and efficient approach.

An intuitive dashboard with an overview of patient information and diagnosis results provides visualizations as well as the key metrics for quick interpretation and options to navigate to detailed sections for more in-depth information.
