There is a need to 3D print habitats with similar usual concrete or better that is fast drying with other by-products outcomes. What exist currently in all aspects is insufficient. The research on 3D printing of fast-drying concrete has shown promising outcomes in various areas, including construction efficiency, material properties, and sustainability. Fast-drying concrete allows for quicker setting times, which can significantly reduce the overall construction timeline.
A cementitious printing methodology considering CO2 and steam supplies to concrete at specific proportions. The concrete is extruded leading to cementitious composition with enhanced carbonation. A specific composition of the concrete is selected after various tests leading to printable and fast drying concrete with better mechanical characteristics than usual concrete by ratio 1:4. Additionally, advancements in 3D printing technology enable the creation of complex geometries and customized structures that traditional methods may not easily achieve. This technique also contributes to reduced waste, as the precise application of materials minimizes excess.
Furthermore, studies have indicated that the mechanical properties of fast-drying concrete can be optimized for strength and durability, making it suitable for a range of applications, from residential buildings to infrastructure projects. Overall, the integration of 3D printing with fast-drying concrete represents a significant innovation in the construction industry, with the potential for enhanced performance and efficiency.
