The Interdisciplinary Research Center for Bio Systems & Machines (IRC-BSM) at King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM) is a newly established cutting-edge research facility dedicated to advancing knowledge and innovation in bioengineering and health-related fields. With a strong focus on creating a functioning ecosystem for innovative engineering solutions that enhance the quality of life, and addressing prevalent health challenges, IRC-BSM plays a pivotal role in driving scientific advancements and societal well-being by translating research discoveries into practical applications that positively impact individuals, communities, and the economy. We are pleased to highlight that a paper co-led by Dr. Ammar Alsheghri, an affiliated faculty member at IRC-BSM, has received the Best Paper Award in Imaging Informatics at the SPIE Medical Imaging Conference 2025.
The paper, titled “IntelliDent: an AI-based online automated framework for dental crown generation,” was developed in collaboration with researchers from KFUPM, École Polytechnique de Montréal, and Intellident Dentaire Inc., Canada. It presents a novel artificial intelligence framework for the automated generation of dental crowns, presenting the potential of AI-driven solutions in modern healthcare and dental informatics.
