Postdoc Fellowships 

The Interdisciplinary Research Center for Hydrogen Technologies and Carbon Management (HTCM) at KFUPM invites highly motivated and dedicated postdoctoral candidates to join our dynamic team. We are seeking individuals with expertise in the fields of Hydrogen Production Processes, Pyrolysis, Gasification, Waste-to-Energy Processes, Oxyfuel Combustion, Chemical Loop Combustion, Reforming, Life Cycle Analysis, and Techno-economic Analysis.

Research 1: Process Design and Simulation of Hydrogen Production Processes

  • Conduct groundbreaking research in Hydrogen Production Processes, Pyrolysis, Gasification, Waste to Energy Processes, Oxyfuel Combustion, Chemical Loop Combustion, Reforming, and Techno-economic Analysis.
  • Develop and implement innovative process engineering solutions.
  • Perform process simulations using industry-standard tools such as Aspen Plus and Hysys.
  • Contribute to the development and optimization of sustainable and efficient processes.
  • Waste to Energy Processes including Hydrogen and Power Production.

Research 2: Conversion of Feedstocks to Useful Chemicals and Fuels

  • Conduct experimental research on pyrolysis and gasification of crude oil, waste plastics, biomass, organic, municipal waste, etc. to produce fuels and chemicals.
  • Design and execute experiments using state-of-the-art equipment to characterize feedstocks, study reaction kinetics, and analyze product compositions.
  • Proficiency in operating laboratory equipment such as thermogravimetric analyzers, pyrolysis reactors, gas chromatographs, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven track record with a strong publication history in process simulation and engineering.
  • Proficiency in using Simulation Tools (Aspen Plus/Hysys) and developing experimental setups.

Minimum Requirements In addition to the required qualifications, the following criteria are essential for consideration for the position:

  • PhD awarded in 2021 or later.
  • No grades of D or F (or equivalent) throughout the academic career.
  • An average of 5 publications per year in Q1/Q2 journals
  • The PhD-granting university must be globally recognized, preferably ranked in the top 200 by QS University Rankings, either overall or by subject.
