In May 24, 2021, a Workshop under the title: Membranes & Water Security was conducted by the center. Saudi Arabia is one of the largest arid countries without permanent rivers or lakes and is challenged by water scarcity. In addition, the current oil and gas activities includes energy intensive processes for gas separation. Therefore, long-term strategies for water security as well as the development of sustainable, energy efficient, and inexpensive membrane technologies for water treatment and gas separation are urgently required. The Center of Membranes and Water Security at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) organized this online technical workshop that aims on bringing together leading experts in the fields of Desalination, Water treatment, Gas separation, and Water security to discuss recent advancements and trending topics.
