Welcome to the Website of the Center of Research Excellence in Corrosion (CoRE-C). CoRE-C is a national center of research in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the strategic area of corrosion.  The Center, funded by the Ministry of Higher Education, was established in November 2008 at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.  The Center works in collaboration with major universities and leading public sector organizations in the Kingdom and other international research institutions.   It would synergize the expertise and resources to combat the corrosion problems in the Kingdom. The Center undertakes applied and basic research projects addressing the problems of corrosion in Saudi Arabia.  It also prepares strategies for combating corrosion in Saudi industry, trains skilled manpower in corrosion monitoring and prevention and provides consultancy services to the industry. Some of the current research areas of the Center include:
  • Aqueous corrosion
  • High temperature corrosion and oxidation
  • Corrosion monitoring
  • Corrosion of steel in concrete
  • Nanotechnology in corrosion prevention
  • Corrosion inhibitors
  • Protective coatings
  • Cathodic Protection
  • Corrosion fatigue
  • Corrosion in oil and gas industries
  • Stress corrosion cracking
