Work in the field of corrosion in the Kingdom is scattered throughout industrial and governmental organizations. Effective teams with expertise in varied disciplines will be formed to synergize the existing expertise and resources.
Programs will be developed to increase awareness among the public and private sectors of the significant corrosion costs and potential savings due to advanced corrosion prevention programs. Symposia, seminars and workshops will be held on a regular basis.
Conduct, coordinate and support research programs in the areas of corrosion. The research topics will be determined in conjunction with the requirements of the industry and government departments. Graduate students will be involved in the research to disseminate knowledge and impart much needed training to young engineers.
Develop training programs in the field of corrosion to support the local industry.
Support will be provided to the researchers to attend relevant international and national conferences and technical meetings and publish their work in reputed journals. Also, quest for innovation in the form of securing patents will be encouraged and duly rewarded.
An industrial affiliates program will be put in place to build and develop a strong relationship with the industry for mutual benefits.
Joint research programs would be developed with selected research organizations and universities abroad. The joint programs would involve training, collaborative research and scholars exchange programs.
The Center would device a system to address questions and enquiries on corrosion.
